Olivia Newton

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Qualified Counselor Supervisor

Trained Mediator

Professor of Criminology and Juvenile Justice

As a former foster child, abuse and neglect survivor, and teen parent, Olivia promotes the message that life doesn't have to be all lemons. While Olivia believes that everyone can benefit from therapy at different points in life, she also understands that some might not have access, or may not be ready or able to commit. She prides herself in creating therapeutic tools that can benefit anyone, despite the current location on their therapeutic journey. In her 20 years of experience in the mental health field, she has found that a realistic macro approach, focusing on the totality of an individual's life experience is the key to discovering a unique recipe for success and balance.

Olivia holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina Pembroke in Clinical Agency Counseling and Bachelor of Arts and Science Degrees in Political Science-Pre law and Criminal Justice from North Carolina Central University. Her personal life experiences and clinical work have afforded her unique insight into trauma response behaviors and negative core language and beliefs. She has worked with a diverse client base in community and clinical settings providing individual, family, and group therapy.

Olivia creates therapeutic tools that :

*Help combat underlying negative and unsupported cognitions fueling maladaptive behaviors and distress.

*Highlight personal resilience and strengths

*Help slow down thoughts to increase recognition of behavioral themes and core language

*Help build self understanding and self confidence

*Provide guidance with creating a unique life recipe for success and balance

"You cannot change all of the external factors around you, but if you change the way you think, you really can change your life".
